We collaborated with a bunch of artists to throw some extremely strange parties, all over the world. We also detonated a load of explosives in the desert.

Melina Matsoukas shot the global TV campaign at the live events. It was fun. Also a bit stressful. I’m not a natural party planner.

Johannesburg

We built a reflective cube in the desert and collaborated with Burning Man’s Charles Gadeken to blow things up all around it.

The dance floor inside the cube was connected to the explosions, so that by dancing the audience could trigger the pyrotechnics.

Berlin

Studio XO, tech/fashion designers who make costumes for Lady Gaga, helped us create a wearable laser show. On the night, the pieces could all be controlled by the DJ, creating an interactive laser attack. All inside a jungle we’d built in an abandoned soviet factory. With butterflies. It was a weird night.

New York

Vita Motus, the design studio of Heather Shaw, built the world’s largest disco ball above the Pier 9 Container Terminal in Red Hook, Brooklyn. I did’t really like the music at this one, but it was great to have a few drinks in a fully-operational port.

Sao Paulo

Computer game screenwriter Marianne Krawczyk (God of War, Appleseed Alpha) helped us devise unique characters for our guests to play and a non-linear narrative for the evening to follow. It all played out in a stately home in downtown Sao Paulo, with hidden rooms and secret challenges. This one got quite messy.
